New research supported by EIT food
Organic farming in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia is evolving, yet significant challenges hinder its widespread adoption. A new study, supported by EIT Food, examines the state of organic agriculture in these countries, drawing on research, policy analysis, and direct engagement with over 100 farmers. Key obstacles include the financial strain of transitioning, labor intensity, market limitations, and slow technological adoption.
A lot of promising technologies supporting organic farming came up in the last years. One of the most promising solutions lies in precision agriculture. In example our AI-driven mechanical weeding system, AROW, has been identified as a game-changer, reducing costs, improving yields, and enhancing economic viability.
The not scientific study emphasizes the need for greater trust and awareness—both among farmers and consumers—to drive adoption of these innovations.
By leveraging technology, education, and targeted outreach, the region can accelerate its organic transition and contribute to the EU’s broader sustainability goals. This research highlights the path forward, showcasing how smart solutions can help overcome barriers and shape the future of organic farming.
